My own country lost one third citizens in WW1 and every second male citizen as well :(

Thanks for the comment, Dez. It's hard to comprehend the level of carnage in that insane war. The British army suffered 60,000 casualties in the first day of the Battle of the Somme alone,for example.

My grandfather fought in the First War but was shot in the leg and sent back home, one of the lucky ones. We must never forget and, hopefully, never let it happen again...

Sadly, it's still happening. There's always wars going on somewhere on the planet. Perhaps no single one is on the scale of the two world wars, but it seems that humans never quite learn their lesson. One day perhaps - fingers crossed.
