Random drivel

Firstly, welcome to new Follower Mark from Bad Librarianship Now! I've been aware of Mark's great blog for some time but haven't got round to Following until this weekend. I'm slow on the uptake sometimes. Anyway, Mark's returned the favour and Followed this here blog, so here's a pic of the ever-lovely Jenny Agutter just for him. ( Alright, and for me too..... )
Help, me shelves are collapsing! Who would have thought a few dozen magazines would have some kind of avalanche effect on my bookcase? Well, obviously anyone else but me would have sussed that. I just let 'em pile up until they go kablooie! Now I've got to find another dark corner to stuff in Comic Book Artist, Alter Ego, Back Issue, The Spirit, Will Eisner's Quarterly, The Jack Kirby Collector, Mojo, NME, Q, Doctor Who Magazine, Death Ray etc. etc. Phew! I'm knackered just thinking about it!
On a sadder note, today ( October 4th ) is the 20th anniversary of the death of Graham Chapman. He was a comedian, actor, writer, alcoholic, public speaker and Python. But not the Messiah.....

  2. I recently thre out about 4 years worth of NMEs, Melody Makers and other music mags from the 90s. They had been stored in my mum's loft (typical) since I moved out 10 years ago and she had enough and brought them to me. I ahd crazy ideas about selling them on ebay until 2 days in to having them in my house and my dust allergy was killing me.
Who knew old crumbly dusty magazines would cause so much trouble?
Apparently, lots of people other than me.

  3. Thanks for commenting, guys!

Matthew,I suspect many of us in this corner of the blog-o-verse are compulsive hoarders and collectors. I recently moved a load of old mags and comics into the loft, but obviously not enough. And, like you, I've got books coming out of my ears, but keep acquiring more...

Saranga, we had more choice of music mags in the 80s and 90s, didn't we? I remember reading Sounds, Record Mirror, Melody Maker, Select, Vox, even Smash Hits. All gone now, of course.
